I have a song stuck in my head by a female artist from, I believe the mid seventies. I can only remember a few lyrics, and they are probably not really accurate. The snipettes I have are as follows
"Close the window calm the light, and it will be alright"
" Roses do, lovers too so cast, your ???? to the wind"
I am not sure any of this is really correct, and I keep thinking that it is a Anne Murray song, but looking through her song lists and listening to some of her songs...I cannot find this. This is driving me nuts! I hum and sing this song all day at work, and fall asleep with it in my head...any help?

Never mind...it was Rita Coolidge..."We're All Alone" from the early 70's.

Rita Coolidge is right. The song was written by Boz Scaggs.
